Intro to Diabetes Treatments of Diabetes

Some of the most classic symptoms of diabetes include frequent urination, increased thirst, and blurred vision. In order for the kidneys to excrete glucose, they require water which is taken from inside body cells, and then the body must replenish these dehydrated cells, therefore causing thirst. Also, if high levels of glucose are held within the body, the glucose may cause changes to the eye lens, and lead to blurred vision or other vision problems. With type 1 diabetes, these symptoms may develop quicker than in type 2 diabetic patients. Type 1 diabetics also suffer from weight loss, increased appetite and fatigue. Diabetic ketoacidosis, (DKA) is a state of dysregulation which has symptoms of nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Severe DKA occurs when the patient becomes unconscious and falls into a diabetic coma, which can sometimes result in death.
